Nat Goldhaber
Nat is a Managing Director at Claremont Creek Ventures, where he is the resident expert on mobile technology with a broad interest in areas such as mobile payments and social networking. His focus in this investment field is built on twenty years of experience in IT as CEO of Cybergold; founder of Centram Systems West; founding CEO of Kaleida Labs and Vice President of Sun Microsystems. Nat holds Master's Degree in Education and is an emeritus member of the Executive Board of the College of Letters and Science at UC Berkeley. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Silicon Valley Association of Startup Entrepreneurs, as a member of the US Secret Service Electronics Crime Taskforce, and is a Board Member of the Federation of American Scientists. Nat lives in Berkeley, California with his wife of 27 years, Marilyn. Their three boys are in college.
John Fisher
John H. N. Fisher is a Managing Director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and is a 25-year veteran of the venture capital business. On behalf of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, John serves on the boards of Cafemom, ContextWeb, Good Technology, Hands On Mobile, Raydiance, Solar City and TargetCast Networks. He served on the boards of Selectica (NASDAQ: SLTC), C2B until its acquisition by Inktomi (INKT), Convoy before its acquisition by Neon/Sybase (SY), Medior until its acquisition by AOL, RightPoint before its acquisition by E.piphany (EPNY), Soundview Technology Group (SNDV) before its acquisition by Charles Schwab Corp (SCHW), Safeview until its acquisition by L-3 Communications (LLL), and Webline until its acquisition by Cisco (CSCO). On behalf of various DFJ funds, John sourced Baidu (BIDU), Hotmail (acquired by MSFT), United OnLine (UNTD), and Combinet (acquired by CSCO). He was also an investor in Software Quality Automation (SQAX) before its acquisition by Rational Software (RATL). In addition, John serves on the board of DFJ ePlanet Ventures and on the Investment Committees of DFJ Growth Fund, DFJ New England, and DFJ Esprit Ventures. Previously, John worked at ABS Ventures, where he focused on computer software and services. In addition to his venture capital experience, John gained investment industry experience at Alex. Brown & Sons and Bank of America. John graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard College, and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. John serves as a Trustee of the California Academy of Sciences, and he is on the board of Common Sense Media.
Jerry Hall
Jerry has 25 years of executive experience in developing and marketing new media concepts and platforms. Jerry comes to TargetCast Networks™ from the XM Satellite Radio's Sales & Marketing Solutions Management Team, where he created innovative advertising and promotional programs for a diverse list of clients. As Senior Vice President, Advertising Sales & Marketing at Premier Retail Networks, Jerry was responsible for launching the company's advertising sales on satellite television networks located in America's largest retailers, including Wal-Mart, Kmart, Sears, Circuit City, and Best Buy. Jerry's diverse media sales and marketing background includes Meredith Corporation and Whittle Communications—the originator of the place-based print, television and digital media category.
Peter Sealey
Peter is the founder, CEO and majority shareholder of The Sausalito Group, Inc. and specializes in business and marketing strategy and expert witness testimony. His background includes over 20 years at The Coca-Cola Company where he held a variety of key positions including the role of Chief Marketing Officer in the early 90's and President of Marketing and Distribution at Columbia Pictures (where his releases include GhostBusters, La Bamba, Karate Kid, Stand By Me & Tootsie.) In 2004, Peter joined the faculty of the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University as a Visiting Professor where he conducted MKTG 392: Marketing and Brand Strategy to MBA students. In the summer of 2007, he assumed the position of Adjunct Professor of Marketing at the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management at the Claremont Graduate University where he will teach an MBA course on entertainment marketing.
Paul Straub
Paul is a Principal at Claremont Creek Ventures. Most recently, he worked in product management for the Storage Foundations group at VERITAS Software (SYMC) and as a consultant to management at Red Hat Software. He spent several years as an Associate at Infinity Capital and Information Technology Ventures in Palo Alto where he focused on early-stage investments in software and services companies. Paul began his career as an investment banking analyst with Montgomery Securities and subsequently as a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions Investment Banking team at Thomas Weisel Partners. Paul earned an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce.
Michael Hudes
Michael Hudes is a recognized new media and marketing innovator and industry thought leader. Michael most recently was the President, Innovation Strategy and Growth at Interpublic Mediabrands. Michael also served Clear Channel Outdoor beginning in March 2004 as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and was promoted to Global Director of Digital Media in September of 2005. In that role his focus was on creating, partnering or acquiring media properties, taking advantage of new technology to drive greater returns on Clear Channel Outdoors’ existing global estate while identifying new “placed based” media channels and interactive platforms to reach consumers with more targeted and timely advertising and content.
Prior to joining Clear Channel Outdoor, Hudes was President and Chief Operating Officer of AdSpace Networks, Inc. one of the first builders of digital media networks and software for managing advertising and promotion in public spaces. As President and Chief Operating Officer of Organic, Inc., he oversaw the company’s evolution from a small web site builder into a leading global digital marketing services company. Under Hudes leadership and direction revenues grew from approximately $700,000 to more than $128 million over a four-year period. Hudes also served as Director of Marketing and Advertising Partnerships at da Vinci Time & Space, a leading interactive television company focused on creating original content and development tools for interactive programming; and Vice President, Director of New Business Development at Ketchum Advertising. He began his career in advertising with the Young & Rubicam companies, now a unit of WPP Group plc. Michael is the founding Chairman of the Outdoor Advertising Association’s Digital Signage Committee and is a member of the OAAA’s Interactive Marketing Committee. He frequently is an invited speaker at media industry conferences.
Jeffrey K. McElnea
A 35-year leader and "Lifetime Achiever" of the marketing communications industry (Brandweek), Jeff has received numerous award, including his recent induction to the Promotion Marketing Hall of Fame by the MAA Worldwide.
Jeff became president of Einson-Freeman, Inc. at age 29, following his purchase of the company from AMEX-listed EAC. As President he led the build-up of the firm into a global enterprise serving many Fortune 500 clients, then sold the top-ranked promotion agency to WPP Group in 1988. Jeff continued with Einson as Chairman/CEO for another 12 years while also heading two other WPP companies, Conquest USA and MGM Marketing. Among his clients were marketing giants such as Alcoa, Unilever, AT&T, Burger King, Kimberly-Clark, Gillette, Schering-Plough, Colgate, Amtrak, IBM, Pepsi-Cola, Kodak, Nestle, Kraft, CBS Television, Fiat, Audi and Weight Watchers. Following his 30 year agency career, Jeff became president of Satmark Media Group, a start-up new media firm that launched the first national ATM advertising network...now owned by Bank of America.
Today his consultancy, The Jeffrey Group (NYC), advises multi-national clients, agencies and media enterprises on business development. He has managed or helped finance early stage marketing ventures in alternative media, and in-store communications. Jeff serves on the Board of Real Time Media, Gem Group, SJI and Enqii and is an advisor to Hill Holliday, WHEN network, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health as well as Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. He was a 1971 graduate of Dartmouth College and a marketing major attending the Tuck School of Business. Jeff was recently appointed Trustee of Suffield Academy, the country's third oldest, independent college prep school.
Neil Fink
Neil is the General Manager of Gundersen Partners in San Francisco. Neil is highly regarded as an executive search consultant in two very exciting fields -- entertainment and technology -- and is a leader in the emerging world where those two industries meet. Neil founded Neil Fink Associates in 1986. Like Gundersen Partners, the firm combined executive search and management consulting—with a focus on cross-functional executive team building. The firm serviced companies on the leading edge of change in communications, media/new media, software and hardware technologies including such bellwethers as Microsoft, Disney, Tektronix, Kodak and Turner Broadcasting. Before founding his own firm, Neil led the Broadcast Operations practice for the Entertainment Search Company since 1983. He has worked for the American Film Institute and serves on the Board of Directors for the Academy of Guided Imagery and the Board of Advisors of EAT.tv and NextNet. Neil lives in San Francisco, is married, and is raising a son.
Moe Sarraf
Moe Sarraf brings over twenty-five years of experience in the data storage, computer industry and a wealth of knowledge in product design and development in consumer electronics. He is the president of MechoTech, LLC, a product development and engineering services company serving clients in data storage, networking, retail and consumer markets. In addition to his published articles in the field of design and automation he holds several patents in computer peripherals, method of manufacturing hard disk drives, factory automation and automatic test equipment. Moe holds a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from USC, Computer Engineering from UC Irvine and Management Program at Stanford University. Moe has designed and developed numerous products with industry leaders such as Xerox, Honeywell, Western Digital Corp, Toshiba, RCA and VIZIO.
Prabal Duta
Prabal is a doctoral student in the Computer Sciences Division at the University of California, Berkeley, where he is advised by David Culler and Scott Shenker. His research is funded through a Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and supplemental funding from NSF and DARPA. He has authored over twenty technical papers, is a member of the IEEE, ACM, and USENIX professional societies, and was elected to Eta Kappa Nu, Upsilon Pi Epsilon, Tau Beta Pi, and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University. Prior to graduate school, he co-founded or consulted for a number of companies including NetEnabled, Bamboo Systems, ImageArray, Micrys, and Lucent Technologies. His work has received a number of awards including a PC Week "Best of Show" Award at Comdex '97.
